The loss of one Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) worth five million dollars "will immediately cool the ardor of Ukrainian generals" in the Donbas. Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, called RIA Novosti a similar way to stop the escalation of the conflict in the region.
In his opinion, Russia, after the use of a Turkish-made drone by Ukraine in the Donbass, should contribute to the establishment of a no-fly zone over the region.
Denis Fedutinov, an expert in the field of UAVs, is sure that you should not overestimate the abilities of Bayraktar TB2. "Bayraktar TB2 UAVs will be most noticeable at first, in the future, as counteraction means are developed, their effectiveness will decrease," the specialist said.
According to him, Bayraktar TB2 are vulnerable to such air defense systems as Igla, Strela, Pantsir and Tor, as well as electronic warfare (EW).
In October, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for the first time used the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drone in combat operations in the Donbass.
In November 2020, Konstantin Makiyenko, occupying the post of Deputy Director of the Center for analysis of strategies and technologies (cast), commenting on the results of the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, which, in his opinion, Russia was losing side, said that the APU is equipped with weapon systems that are not in Russia, in particular anti-tank missile complexes of the third-generation drones and bombers.
