The experiment on carrying out a surgical operation on board the International Space Station (ISS) was carried out by the Russian crew, including the crew of the film "The Challenge". This is reported by Interfax with reference to the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin.
During his speech at the presentation of the scientific and educational project "Challenge" in Dubna, the head of Roscosmos spoke about the specifics of operations in orbit. According to him, performing operations in zero gravity requires additional measures to secure the patient and the surgical instrument.
"Today we have the technology to perform surgery in the absence of gravity, and everything is different there," he said.
According to Rogozin, the experiment on surgical operations was carried out in orbit. The head of Roscosmos stressed his readiness to share the experience of space surgery with other participants of the ISS project.
Earlier, Dmitry Rogozin appreciated the quality of the material that was filmed on the ISS. The head of Roscosmos has published a video of the extraction of flash cards with footage of the film "Challenge".
The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with the Soyuz MS-19 manned spacecraft took place on October 5. The crew of the ship included cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko. Members of the film crew filmed a film on the ISS with the working title "Challenge".
