Bangladesh Coast Guard can get Turkish boats

TSAMTO, October 26. As reported by Navyrecognition.com with reference to a Bangladeshi resource Defseca.com The Bangladesh Coast Guard may receive ARES-150 Hercules patrol boats manufactured by the Turkish company ARES Shipyard.

The issue of buying ARES-95 FAMB boats was also discussed.

According to a Bangladeshi source, the sale will be implemented within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed at IDEF 2021 through the mediation of the Turkish company ASFAT AS, created for the implementation of foreign defense orders.

According to a short Twitter post published by SeaWaves Magazine on October 16, 2021, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has already ordered ARES-150 Hercules boats from Turkey.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard is a paramilitary force subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The main tasks of the Coast Guard are: combating piracy, drug trafficking, protecting fisheries, oil and gas fields, countering environmental pollution, ensuring security and law and order at sea, conducting search and rescue operations and providing assistance to victims of natural disasters.

Recently, the Government of Bangladesh has launched a Coast Guard modernization plan in line with the Coast Guard Goal 2030 plan. Currently, the Coast Guard fleet consists of 4 offshore patrol vessels, 8 coastal patrol ships, 4 high-speed combat boats, 4 coastal patrol boats, 5 river patrol vessels, 6 port patrol boats, as well as small high-speed motor boats.

The length of the ARES-150 Hercules boat made of composite materials is 48.09 m, width is 8.95 m, total displacement is 275 tons. It is equipped with three MTU 16V 4000 M63L diesel engines and two Rolls-Royce S71-4 water cannons, which allows you to reach speeds of up to 35 knots (cruising - 25 knots). The cruising range is 1600 nautical miles. Ares-150 can carry two rigid-hulled inflatable boats (RHIB) ARES 24. The boat can be equipped with remotely controlled modules with 12.7 mm and 30 mm caliber weapons.
