Washington. October 26. INTERFAX - The Hubble Space Telescope has been put into safe mode due to problems with internal communication, NASA announced on Twitter on Tuesday.
"Hubble's instruments for scientific research were put into safe mode on Monday due to synchronization problems with the telescope's internal communication. Scientific research has been suspended while experts investigate the causes of the problem. The instruments themselves are in good condition," the report says.
In June of this year, the Hubble telescope suspended its work due to a system malfunction. Then all the instruments of the telescope were also switched to safe mode.
During the month, specialists conducted multi-day tests, which included attempts to reboot and reconfigure the system and backup hardware, but were not successful. However, it was revealed that the possible cause of the problem is related to the power management unit.
On July 16, specialists were able to connect a backup power supply and control unit, as well as scientific data formatting tools to the other side of the Scientific Instrumentation, Control and Data Processing Module (SI C&DH). In addition, a number of types of equipment on board Hubble has been switched to the backup module via alternative interfaces. As a result of the work, the backup system was brought back to normal.
