The American Heritage Foundation Research Institute has published an analysis of the US military potential. The assessment turned out to be the worst in recent years.
According to analysts of the institute, the power of the military potential is only 2/3 of what should be in reality. The problem is also a rather outdated technique that does not meet the challenges of the time.
The US Navy received the lowest rating. Experts emphasize that the technological gap between American ships and the fleet of potential opponents is increasing. The quantitative composition does not correspond to the current challenges, auxiliary shipyards are overloaded with various repair work. The financing of the fleet leaves much to be desired.
The army also received a low rating. Many of its modernization programs are still under development, and several more years will pass before modern equipment enters service.
The American Air Force also has problems. Analysts point to both the lack of modern aircraft and the lack of experienced pilots.
Certain types of American troops received good marks: for example, these are the nuclear forces and the Marine Corps. But the overall assessment of analysts of the entire US military potential is "Marginal", which corresponds to a three on a five-point scale.
The institute's experts explain that the United States is able to withstand one major regional conflict. But if the number of them grows to at least two, the Pentagon will not cope with the threat. Rising inflation and public debt lead to the fact that due to a lack of funds for defense, the country risks losing the ability to protect its national interests, analysts warned.
