MOSCOW, October 21. TsNII-27 (the 27th Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense) has received a laboratory building equipped with advanced equipment, it will allow military scientists to use new techniques to study new diseases and develop drugs against them, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Thursday.
"We had to build the most modern, most efficient laboratory buildings, centers that meet all international standards, highly qualified specialists work here, we had to create appropriate conditions for them," Shoigu said during a visit to the center.
"We made a serious..> a step forward, especially in a pandemic, when we have new opportunities to develop new techniques, new drugs, research new threats, new viruses, new diseases, this is the main thing," he added.
As explained by the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops Igor Kirillov, the new center will not only conduct research on various substances, but also their synthesis to create standards and enter into an electronic database. According to him, the laboratories meet modern challenges. Scientists of the Central Research Institute-27 are also developing medicinal and active biological substances for the treatment of various stages of coronavirus infection. One of these substances is already ready, the center has started its registration, he noted.
"A new approach is being used, equipment of the highest class, of the highest level. <...> This is being done, but at a level that, I think, no one is doing here," Kirillov said.
