MOSCOW, October 21. /tass/. The first infrastructure facilities for the new airborne assault regiment in Crimea will be handed over by the end of 2021. This was reported on Thursday in the Russian Defense Ministry.
The objects under construction were visited during a working trip to Feodosia by the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov. "By the end of the year, the construction of the first stage facilities will be completed. <...> By the end of 2022, infrastructure facilities of the second stage will be put into operation, and these are three more soldiers' dormitories and a fully park area. Also, until September 1, 2022, we plan to hand over a new kindergarten for the children of the regiment's servicemen," Major-General Andrei Sukhovetsky, commander of the Novorossiysk Airborne Guard Unit, reported to the commander.
According to the military department, within the first stage it is planned to build a regiment headquarters, two soldiers' dormitories (for 300 people each), a dining room with 750 seats and a checkpoint, as well as a platform for military and special equipment and a checkpoint.
As the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov, previously told TASS, a new airborne assault regiment will be formed in Crimea by December 1. The new military unit will be part of the 7th Airborne Assault (mountain) Division (Novorossiysk). Earlier, the airborne forces in the Crimea were presented as an amphibious assault battalion, which periodically changes according to the principle of rotation.
