MAKHACHKALA, October 20. /tass/. The creation of the main infrastructure for the deployment of the Caspian Flotilla in Dagestan is planned to be completed by the end of 2022, the head of the republic Sergey Melikov said at a meeting with journalists of the federal media.
"The living environment is actively developing, [jobs are being created, [there is] a selection of enterprises for the development of the shipbuilding industry, and so on. The main measures for the deployment of the entire infrastructure, including residential, are planned to be completed by the end of 2022," Melikov said.
He clarified that housing for the flotilla servicemen and their families is being built in stages, while in 2022 all major decisions should be made, including projects for complex development of the territory of the city of Kaspiysk, where the flotilla will be located.
In early April 2018, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Caspian Flotilla would be transferred from Astrakhan to Kaspiysk. It was reported that the transfer of the flotilla will be carried out in stages as the infrastructure is built.
