In 2021-2022, the Russian Navy will receive three small rocket ships of the project 22800 "Karakurt".They will be armed with a universal ship firing complex "Kalibr-NK", "Onyx" with eight cruise missiles.
By the end of this year, the small missile ships "Cyclone" and "Storm" will be transferred to the Navy, and in 2022 - "Askold". This was reported to TASS by a source in the shipbuilding industry. The ship "Storm" is being built in the Leningrad region, and "Cyclone" and "Askold" - at the shipyard in Kerch.
Small rocket multipurpose ships of the project 22800 "Karakurt" were developed in 2015 at the Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz" in St. Petersburg. They are designed for the near sea zone. There are already three ships of this series in the Russian Navy, serving in the Baltic Fleet. In total, they plan to build 18 ships of this project, which will go to the Pacific, Baltic and Black Sea fleets.
