The Ukrainian main battle tank BM "Oplot", which the Pentagon ordered in 2018, went to the United States. The car was prepared for shipment at the Malyshev Plant. This is reported by Defense Express.
The publication notes that the tank was shipped on October 10. Before being sent to the USA, Oplot was demonstrated at the exhibition "Weapons and Security - 2021" and at the parade on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
The tank cost the American customer $ 7 million. The publication writes that the Pentagon has received the most modern modification of the machine. So, the "Oplot" created for the Ukrspetsexport company was estimated at $ 3 million, and the cost of one Oplot-T tank for Thailand was $ 4.9 million.
In August, one of the Oplot tanks broke down during a parade rehearsal in Kiev. The car was evacuated for repairs. Three BM "Oplot" tanks were being prepared for the festive procession.
In February, a Ukrainian T-84U "Oplot" tank was spotted near the Yuma proving ground in the US state of Arizona. This is one of four cars that the United States purchased in 2003.
The only BM "Oplot" for the USA was ordered in 2018. The editor-in-chief of the magazine "Arsenal of the Fatherland" Viktor Murakhovsky suggested that the Americans need a tank for testing. "Oplot" can be disassembled to check the basic parameters of the machine.
The basis of the BM "Oplot" is the Soviet T-80UD tank. The Ukrainian modification is distinguished by a new welded tower, dynamic "Doublet" protection and enlarged side screens. "Oplot" received a 6TD-2E engine with a capacity of 1200 horsepower.
