A Chinese-made F-7 fighter belonging to the Namibian Defense Forces was seriously damaged at the end of last week as a result of a descent from the runway of the airport located near the city of Ondangwa in the north of the country.
It is reported that the incident occurred after the plane landed normally, but his braking parachute did not open, which led to the incident. The aircraft, judging by the videos and photographs published on the Internet, turned over and crashed into the fence.
As a result, the winged car was seriously damaged and, apparently, is unlikely to be restored. The pilot was not injured, but he was still taken to a medical facility for examination.
Currently, the command of the Air Force is investigating all the circumstances of the incident.
This is the second recent incident with a military aircraft in Namibia. On September 23, a Chinese-designed K-8 training aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from an airfield in the Caribib area. Both pilots managed to eject, one of them received multiple fractures.
The Namibian Defense Forces were armed with six Chengdu F-7NM combat aircraft and two FT-7NM combat training aircraft, as well as twelve Hongdu K-8 training jet aircraft.
The F-7NM is a Chinese version of the Soviet MiG-21 fighter, they are equipped with Italian radar stations and other Western electronic equipment.
