The information mentioned in the media about China's testing of hypersonic weapons in August of this year does not correspond to reality.
This was stated at a regular briefing by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, TASS reports.
According to him, China was not testing a new type of weapons, but a spacecraft.
"As far as I know, it was in August of this year. These were tests of the spacecraft. They were organized to confirm the technology of reuse of the spacecraft," he said.
According to the diplomat, this technology is of particular importance for world science, as it can significantly reduce the cost of space exploration for humanity.
Many other countries and companies have already tested similar devices. The wreckage of the burnt-out ship fell into the sea," Zhao Lijian added.
As the British newspaper Financial Times reported earlier, China, with the help of a launch vehicle, launched a hypersonic aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons in August.
