VLADIVOSTOK, October 18 - RIA Novosti. The joint exercises of the Russian Navy and the Naval Forces of the People's Republic of China "Maritime Cooperation-2021" have ended in the Sea of Japan, the press service of the Pacific Fleet reports.
As part of the squadron's air defense training, the ships countered the multifunctional Su-30SM fighters of the Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Eastern Military District and helicopters of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet. The sailors of Russia and China have worked out joint tactical maneuvering and communication organization.
At the final stage of the "Maritime Interaction-2021" exercise, the ships of the Russian Navy and the PLA Navy, with the support of anti-submarine aircraft, together found and blocked the "enemy" submarine. Pilots of deck helicopters simulated landing on Allied ships, having worked out hovering over helicopter pads.
In total, during the exercises, the sailors of the Russian Federation and China performed more than 20 different combat exercises.
"Maritime Cooperation-2021" was held in the Sea of Japan from October 14 to 17. The Russian Navy was represented by warships and support vessels of the Pacific Fleet: the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleev, the corvettes of Project 20380 Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and Loud, two base minesweepers, the submarine of Project 877 Ust-Bolsheretsk, as well as a missile boat and a rescue tug.
From the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China, destroyers "Kun Ming" and "Nan Chang", corvettes "Bin Zhou" and "Liu Zhou", as well as a diesel submarine, an integrated supply ship and a rescue vessel were involved.
For the first time, naval maneuvers involving the fleets of the Russian Federation and China took place in August 2005 in the Yellow Sea. Then they were part of the large–scale military exercises "Peace Mission - 2005" organized under the auspices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Since 2012, the annual specialized naval exercises "Maritime Interaction" have been held outside the SCO framework, aimed at strengthening the combat capability of Russia and China to jointly confront threats at sea. In 2020, the exercises were not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.
