According to the agency's interlocutors, the corvette of project 20380 "Zealous" was renamed "Mercury", and the stealth corvette of project 20386 "Mercury" was returned the name given to it at the bookmark - "Daring"
MOSCOW, October 15. /tass/. The Main Command of the Navy (Navy) of the Russian Federation decided to rename two corvettes under construction projects 20380 and 20386 - "Zealous" and "Mercury". This was reported to TASS by several sources in the shipbuilding industry.
According to them, the corvette of project 20380 "Zealous" was renamed "Mercury", and the stealth corvette of project 20386 "Mercury" was returned the name given to it at the bookmark - "Daring". The purpose of such renaming is not known.
TASS has no official confirmation of this information.
Earlier it was reported that in March 2021, the Severnaya Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the lead corvette of project 20386 Mercury into the water. The ceremony of laying the head corvette called "Daring" was held on October 28, 2016. On April 23, 2019, in the presence of the head of state, the blocks of the hull of this corvette, already known as the Mercury, were docked at the plant.
"Zealous" is the fifth corvette of project 20380 built in St. Petersburg. It is currently being tested. It was laid down at the Northern Shipyard on February 20, 2015, and launched on March 12, 2020. The previous four corvettes - "Smart", "Watchful", "Persistent" and "Brisk" - serve in the Baltic Fleet.
During the construction of multi-purpose corvettes (patrol ships) of the near sea zone of projects 20380/20386, stealth technology is used. The latest solutions were used to reduce the physical fields of the corvette. In particular, it was possible to significantly reduce radar visibility due to the use of refractory fiberglass with radio absorption properties as a superstructure material, as well as due to the architectural layout of the hull and superstructure.
