Moscow. October 14th. INTERFAX - The Air Defense Forces of Russia and Serbia conducted a training to repel an enemy air raid during a joint exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"The combat crews of the Russian-Serbian mixed grouping of air defense forces and means at the Pasulyansk-Livada training ground have worked out the detection of air targets, their classification and the issuance of information to the joint command post of the created air defense group, and also repelled an air raid with simulated launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation had transferred a battery of short-range air defense systems "Pantsir-S" to Serbia for exercises. The units arrived at the Pasulyansk-Livade training ground, where the practical use of the "Shells" is planned.

During the training to repel an air attack, planes and helicopters of the Serbian Air Force performed flights as control targets.

"More than 20 pieces of aviation equipment, including helicopters, small-sized and transport aircraft, as well as fighter aircraft, have taken to the air," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the aircraft had to overcome the air defense zones unnoticed by radar stations, "attacking" from different directions, at different altitudes and speeds. The flights were carried out during daylight and dark hours.

As reported, Serbia is also currently hosting a joint tactical flight exercise "BARS-2021" with Russia. The maneuvers involve joint crews of Russia and Serbia on MiG-29 aircraft, Mi-8 and Mi-35 helicopters.

Russia has already transferred air defense systems to Serbia for exercises. On October 24, 2019, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the S-400 Triumph long-range air defense systems division and the Pantsir-S battery of short-range air defense systems were sent by military transport aviation to Serbia for maneuvers. The S-400 division and the Pantsir-S battery then took part in exercises abroad for the first time.

On November 5, 2019, the military announced the return of the S-400 and Pantsir-S complexes from Serbia to Russia.
