The 47th Bomber Aviation Regiment will be relocated to Voronezh by the end of 2021 on Su-34 aircraft, which is currently based in Buturlinovka, Voronezh Region. This was reported to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during his working trip, Interfax reports on Thursday, October 14.
As noted, the relocation of bombers will take place from November 15 to December 15.
The head of the Ministry of Defense was also informed that conditions were created in Voronezh for the training of specialists in the maintenance and repair of aviation equipment on the basis of the Zhukovsky and Gagarin Air Force Academy (VVA). It is assumed that in the future, specialized specialists will be sent to the troops and will be able to perform up to 70 percent of the volume of repair work.
Previously, the 47th Bomber Aviation Regiment was already based in Voronezh, but a few years ago it was transferred to Buturlinovka during the reconstruction of the Voronezh military airfield Baltimore. Work began in 2013, nine billion rubles were allocated for them. Initially, it was assumed that Baltimore would turn into an airbase for 200 aircraft — it was planned to significantly expand the parking lot for aircraft at the airfield and build a second runway. However, later it was decided to abandon these plans, which delayed the delivery of the object.
At the end of August, it was reported that Su-34 bombers during front-line aviation exercises in the Voronezh Region landed at an operational airfield equipped directly on the federal highway E-38 Kursk - Saratov. Thus, the episode with the relocation of aircraft was worked out.
