Some technical characteristics of the Russian mobile reconnaissance point PRP-5, made on the basis of the serial domestic armored personnel carrier BTR-82A, have become known.
This car was demonstrated at the beginning of October this year at an exhibition dedicated to the Day of the Ground Forces held in the Patriot Park near Moscow.
For the first time it was openly shown in June 2020 in Tula at a military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Then, along with the equipment of the Russian army, the products of local defense enterprises were involved in the solemn event, in particular the one where the armored scout of the new generation was created.
In the accompanying materials it is reported that the PRP-5 is designed for reconnaissance, fire correction. Its mass reaches 15,500 kg. The armor withstands the hit of 12.7 mm ammunition in the frontal projection, the side and stern hold 7.62 mm bullets.
Length - 7600 mm, width - 2993 mm, height - 2450 mm.
The engine power is 300 hp. The maximum speed on the highway is 100 km/h. The speed when overcoming water obstacles afloat is 10 km/h. The power reserve on the highway is 800 km . A 12.7 mm machine gun was used as the main weapon.
On May 9, 2021, a mobile reconnaissance station with a similar module already on the chassis of an infantry fighting vehicle BMP-3 took part in the Victory Parade in Tula
