Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the superiority of Russian developments over hypersonic weapons of the United States. He stated this during a speech at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week forum, Interfax reports.
During the discussion of strategic stability issues, the presenter noted that Russia has developed high-precision missiles with a flight speed of Mach three. "No, no, no, Mach three is being developed in the States, and then more. And our systems fly at a speed of over 20 Mach. It's not just a hypersonic missile, it's an intercontinental missile. This is a much more serious weapon than you just said. And they are already on combat duty in Russia," Putin said.
The President stressed that the presence of hypersonic weapons allowed US to get ahead of the United States in creating advanced weapons. "I draw your attention to the fact that we, having such systems and for the first time in history even surpassing our main competitors — in this case, the United States - in high-tech weapons systems, we do not abuse this, we do not threaten anyone," he explained.
In September, US Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of implementation of programs in the field of hypersonic weapons. The Minister noted that the plans for the use of hypersonic munitions of China and Russia are clear to him.
