The National Guard of Ukraine will abandon Soviet rifles and submachine guns. The UAR-15 semi-automatic rifle will replace Kalashnikov assault rifles. This is reported by the Defense Blog.
According to the deputy director of the Logistics Department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel Sergei Gritsenko, the rearmament of troops continues. He stressed that special purpose units received new weapons.
Gritsenko noted that Kalashnikov assault rifles will be replaced by UAR-15 semi-automatic rifles of 5.56 by 45 millimeters, and Dragunov sniper rifles (SVD) will give way to UAR-10 rifles. UAR-15 is a copy of the American semi-automatic rifle AR-15, which was adopted in 1958.
In September, the Ukroboronprom company reported that the enterprises of the country's military-industrial complex lack more than 3,000 components from Russia.
In December 2019, it became known about the tests of the Russian version of the AR-15 on the resource. The development of the company ORSIS uses ammunition caliber 7.62 by 39 millimeters. The rifle retained the declared parameters after 17 thousand shots.
