The Israeli company uVision showed the LAV-M armored vehicle of the American Marine Corps with a launcher for barrage ammunition. As reported by The Drive, the installation includes eight launch containers. It is suitable not only for armored vehicles of the LAV-25 series, but also for other platforms.
In June, the US Marine Corps signed a contract with uVision to equip JLTV, LAV-25 armored vehicles and long-range robocats with barrage ammunition. Kamikaze drones will not be able to destroy large ships, but they will be able to disable radars and communication antennas, and will also be suitable for smaller naval targets.
The American Marines chose a version of the Hero-120 barrage ammunition for their armored vehicles and robocats. This is the largest UAV of the uVision short-range family. It weighs 12.5 kilograms, carries a warhead weighing 4.5 kilograms and can fly for 60 minutes. Hero's range is 120 - 40 kilometers. It is unknown how the American version of the ammunition will differ from the standard one.
uVision showed the LAV-M - a mortar armored personnel carrier from the LAV-25 series - with an MCL launcher for barrage ammunition during the annual US Army conference in Washington. The installation includes eight launch containers, and it can be installed on various platforms.
Although the US Marines have already made a choice in favor of the Hero-120 version, the MCL is also suitable for launching other drones in the series Hero . This will give the military the opportunity to choose the most suitable ammunition for different purposes.
The US Marine Corps is interested not only in barrage ammunition, but also other drones. Earlier we wrote about their tender for the development of deck-based unmanned aerial vehicles, which will be engaged in early warning, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, signal relay and air support.
