Russia has completed testing of the latest hypersonic missile
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the implementation of the second test launch of the hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon". It was produced by the crew of the nuclear submarine missile cruiser Severodvinsk from the Barents Sea. The shooting took place in normal mode and, it would seem, was no different from many other similar missile launches. But in fact, it changes a lot.
Firstly, this launch was made for the first time not only from the surface, but also from an underwater position, from a depth of 40 meters. According to objective control data, the flight of the rocket from leaving the water to hitting the conditional target fully corresponded to the specified parameters.
Secondly, thereby the tests of the hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon" as part of the warships are fully completed, and at the beginning of next year it is already expected to be adopted by the Russian Navy.
Thirdly, all this radically changes our defense component, since it is almost impossible to intercept such a missile with missile defense means. This means that any enemy targets can be destroyed with a probability coefficient of 0.95. That allows us to solve strategic tasks with conventional means of destruction, without the use of nuclear weapons.
As the commander of the Northern Fleet Alexander Moiseev reported to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu at a conference call, the tests of the hypersonic "Zircon" from the submarine have been completed. "The test objectives have been achieved. The underwater launch of the rocket has been tested and confirmed. With this, the tests of the missile from the submarine have been completed," Moiseev said.
Shoigu congratulated everyone who was involved in the tests and expressed hope: "We will complete all these works in the near future and put the missile into service."
