The aircraft is capable of performing the functions of long-range radar detection and control
MOSCOW, October 10. /TASS/. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of performing the functions of a long-range radar detection and control aircraft (AWACS) has been developed in Russia. This was announced on Sunday on the TV channel "Zvezda" by the general designer of JSC "Kronstadt" Nikolay Dolzhenkov.
"But this is not only an intelligence apparatus and not so much an intelligence apparatus, this is a fundamentally new direction for the development of large-scale unmanned complexes for our country, this is a radar patrol and guidance aircraft. An analogue of the A-50 and promising aircraft of this direction," Dolzhenkov said.
According to him, the new UAV is able to provide radar coverage in any area. "This is an opportunity to provide radar coverage in a given area and detect everything that is in the airspace, including low-flying targets in order to notify the air defense system in time about the violation of our borders, for example," said the general designer of Kronstadt.
According to him, one of the modern trends in the development of robotics - in particular, the company paid special attention to it when creating the newest UAV "Thunder". "Its most important difference is its intellectual stuffing, the fact that it is able to work not only in tandem with manned aircraft, but also in autonomous operations. This is an absolute robot, the operator's control of this aircraft lies only at the upper level. He will make the decision himself, complete the task and return back," Dolzhenkov added.
As noted by the general designer of Kronstadt, the newest attack UAV S-70 Hunter is distinguished by a unified communication line. "[With other UAVs], this device is related to the interaction and unification of equipment via the communication line that we use on board. This reduces the price we spend on solving this problem, it makes it possible not to have a "zoo" of funds, but to have unified funds," Dolzhenkov added.
"The technology of interaction of the device with the ground complex on all our UAVs is unified," the general designer of Kronstadt summed up.
