The United States Department of Defense has expressed concern for the future of artificial intelligence (AI) created by the Pentagon due to the threat of hacker attacks on it, including from hackers acting in the interests of other states. This statement was made by the director of the Joint Center for Research in the Field of Artificial Intelligence of the Pentagon, Lieutenant General Michael Gron on Friday, October 8.
"Taking into account our experience with some of our global opponents in the cyber sphere, as well as everything that concerns state-sponsored or criminal structures, <...> it becomes obvious that our potential is under threat, both civilian and military, all. And this is a really important signal for us. So, of course, we are very much aware that artificial intelligence, as it develops, grows to an industrial level, also becomes a target," Grohn said at a cybersecurity conference in Washington, a recording of his speech was distributed by the Pentagon press service on his website .
Earlier, the lieutenant General said that the United States is the leader in AI technology research, this is also facilitated by competition with China and Russia. In addition, innovations are being actively introduced into the American troops.
