MOSCOW, Oct 7 - RIA Novosti. Ships of the Caspian Flotilla of Russia carried out launches of "Calibers" on coastal targets during the exercises, the press service of the Southern Military District reported.
"The ship strike group of the Caspian Flotilla, during a planned tactical exercise as part of the final inspection for the 2021 academic year, launched cruise missiles of the Kalibr-NK complex at coastal targets from the Caspian Sea. Targets imitating the objects of a simulated enemy on the coast of the island of Chechnya were successfully hit. The crew of the Veliky Ustyug small rocket ship conducted a practical firing of Kalibr cruise missiles," the report says.
It is added that the small rocket ships "GRAD Sviyazhsk" and "uGlich" have worked out electronic missile launches. It is noted that the control over the performance of combat exercises was carried out by the Dagestan rocket ship.
As emphasized in the Southern Military District, in order to ensure safety for the period of missile firing, a marine test site with an area of over 1,500 nautical miles (about 2,500 square kilometers) it was closed to civilian shipping. In addition, about 15 warships and support vessels of the Caspian Flotilla ensured the safety of the combat exercise.
"The analysis and evaluation of the combat training tasks performed at sea will be carried out by the command of the Caspian Flotilla according to the technical means of monitoring and control after the ships return to their bases," the message adds.
