Turkey is working on a system to protect important facilities from attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system is based on the Fedai kamikaze drone, which was created to combat drones. This is reported by Daily Sabah.
The drone protection system is a joint development of Havelsan and Transvaro. The promising complex is designed to protect important objects from air attack using swarms of drones. The representative of Havelsan company Nezih Shishman (Nezih Şişman) noted that the new system uses artificial intelligence to detect and classify targets.
According to him, the approach of drones to the protected area will be recorded by radar, which transmits data about the target to the electro-optical complex. In turn, the complex can accompany the target until the Fedai drone is ready for departure.
The threat is neutralized by detonating the warhead of a kamikaze drone, which selects the optimal location for detonation after visual scanning of the target. Shishman noted that the explosion of the Fedai warhead allows you to hit a target at a distance of up to 40 meters. According to him, the demonstration of the complex's capabilities will take place in the next two months.
Earlier, Izvestia reported on the beginning of work on unmanned flamethrowers. Air systems based on quadrocopters will be able to carry thermobaric and incendiary ammunition.
