SEVASTOPOL, October 7. /TASS/. A detachment of ships and submarines of the Pacific Fleet (TOF), performing an inter-fleet transition from the Baltic to permanent bases, has entered the Indian Ocean. This was reported to TASS on Thursday on the margins of the Sevastopol Naval Salon by a source close to the power structures of the Crimea.

"A detachment of ships and submarines of the Pacific Fleet led by the corvette "Gremyashchy" after crossing the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and passing the Gulf of Aden is currently moving in the Indian Ocean," he said. The corvette and submarines of the Pacific Fleet are accompanied by the rescue and towing vessel "Captain Guryev" of the Black Sea Fleet.

TASS has no official confirmation of this information.

The Gremyashchy corvette, the lead ship of Project 20385, was built at the sEvernaya Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation). Laid down on February 1, 2012, launched on June 30, 2017, transferred to the Navy on December 29, 2020. The "Gremyashchy" entered the inter-fleet passage in August as part of a detachment of ships led by the large anti-submarine ship "Vice Admiral Kulakov" of the Northern Fleet. The latter later became part of the Mediterranean Squadron of the Russian Navy.

The squad includes the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and vOlkhov submarines of Project 636.3 built by Admiralty Shipyards (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation). They arrived in the Mediterranean in early August. The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine is the first in a series of six submarines of Project 636.3 designed for the Pacific Fleet. Laid down on July 28, 2017, launched on March 28, 2019, transferred to the Navy on November 25, 2019. The vOlkhov submarine was laid down on July 28, 2017, launched on December 26, 2019, and transferred to the Navy on October 24, 2020.
