The diesel submarine of Project 636.3, equipped with KALIBR cruise missiles, will join the Russian Navy on October 12.
"This date was approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov," Navy spokesman Igor Dygalo told reporters.
According to him, at the Admiralty Shipyards enterprise, the state commission signed an acceptance certificate on the completion of tests of the large diesel-electric submarine Magadan.
He recalled that the Magadan is the third submarine of the series for the Pacific Fleet, which was laid down on November 1, 2019 and launched on March 26 this year in a high, 91%, degree of readiness.
Currently, the fourth submarine of the Pacific series "UFA" is forming a light hull, pipe and electrical installation work, installation of acoustic coating. The vOlkhov submarine, the second in the series, joined the Pacific Fleet on October 24, 2020. The first submarine, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was transferred to the Navy in November 2019.
The fifth and sixth submarines of the series – mOzhaysk and Yakutsk - were laid down at the enterprise on August 23, 2021.
In 2016, the construction of the first six diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 for the Russian Black Sea Fleet was completed. These submarines participated in a military operation in Syria - they attacked militants from the Mediterranean Sea with cruise missiles.
Submarines of the 636.3 project are equipped with KALIBR cruise missiles (developed by the Novator Design Bureau, Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region JSC), Interfax reminds.
