Ships and vessels of the Arctic grouping of the Northern Fleet have arrived at the islands of the Franz Josef Land archipelago, where they will conduct rescue exercises and practice landing in the Arctic. This was reported on Tuesday in the press service of the Northern Fleet.
"Ships and vessels of the Arctic grouping: BOD "Severomorsk", BDK "George the Victorious", SBS "PAMIR" and BMTN "Sergey Osipov" have made the transition to the northwest of the Kara Sea to the islands of the Franz Josef Land archipelago, near which they will conduct a number of rescue exercises and practice landing on the coast of the Arctic islands, as well as provide loading of military and special equipment on a large landing ship," the fleet said in a statement.
The press service also added that the personnel of the Arctic group will work out part of the planned combat training activities in cooperation with the tactical group of the Northern Fleet stationed on the island of Alexander Land, where the world's northernmost all-season airfield Nagurskaya and the Arctic Shamrock military base are located.
