MOSCOW, Oct 5 - RIA Novosti. Tests of the Zircon hypersonic missile from a submarine have been completed, all its characteristics have been confirmed, Commander of the Northern Fleet Alexander Moiseev reported to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a conference call.
"On the fourth of October, as part of the test program of the hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon", a test missile firing was carried out from a launch vehicle - a nuclear submarine of the cruising project 885/885M, namely, from the submarine "Severodvinsk". The shooting was carried out from an underwater position. All systems - the submarine's missile weapon control system complex and the missile itself - worked in normal mode without comments. The test objectives have been achieved. The underwater launch of the rocket has been tested and confirmed. With this, the tests of the missile from the submarine have been completed," Moiseev said.
According to him, "taking into account the previously conducted tests and firings, the hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon" has confirmed all its characteristics."
The Defense Minister congratulated everyone who was involved in the tests. "I hope that we will complete all these works in the near future and put the missile into service," Shoigu said after listening to Moiseev's report.
