A second toilet has been launched on the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), it is deployed in the new NAUKA module, which docked to the ISS in July.
This became known from the crew's negotiations with Earth, which are broadcast by NASA.
"I am ready to test in combat conditions," cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky said after completing the connection of the toilet in the new module.
His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The specialist of the Mission Control Center near Moscow responded positively to the cosmonaut.
"We allow combat use... Keep an eye on this toilet," he said.
Three Russian-made toilets are now operating on the ISS, they are located in the ZVEZDA, Nauka and Tranquility modules.
As the agency reminds, in October 2020, an American UWMS toilet was delivered to the ISS, developed by NASA "taking into account the wishes of astronauts about comfort and ease of use." According to the manufacturer, it is 65% more compact and 40% lighter than the Russian one, but so far the astronauts have not been able to adjust its operation, the report says.
On October 4, the State Commission for Flight Tests of Manned Space Complexes approved the composition of the main and backup crews of the sOyuz MS-19 transport manned spacecraft.
