The best local versions of the T-72M1 with thermal imagers were seen at the exercises in Iran

Exercises continue in Iran on the border with Azerbaijan. Everything suggests that the scale of the demonstration of forces will only increase. Now the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has deployed its units. If the formations of the ground forces have not yet used their newest tanks, the Chieftain, in the maneuvers, then the IRGC has transferred the recently upgraded T-72M1.

These combat vehicles received additional reservations, and not only the frontal, but also the lateral projections of the hull and turret were protected. Latticed anti-accumulation screens were mounted on the stern. As a result, such "seventy-second" outwardly began to resemble the T-90MS.

At the night stage of the exercise

We have seriously improved the fire control system by installing a thermal imager, as well as equipment that allows missiles to be guided by a laser beam.

However, if initially such tanks with remote-controlled machine-gun installations were shown, then the vehicles involved in the exercises are equipped with ordinary UTES anti-aircraft machine guns.

According to military experts, such T-72M1S are superior to the Azerbaijani ASLAN in most characteristics, but they are still inferior to the T-90S. In addition, there are relatively few of them, only a few dozen.
