The crew of the small sea tanker "Vice Admiral Ferries" of the Black Sea Fleet will perform tasks in the Mediterranean Sea for the first time as part of the forces of the grouping of the Russian Navy (Navy), the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reported on Saturday.
"The crew of the small sea tanker Vice Admiral Ferries of the Black Sea Fleet began passing the Black Sea Straits of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles in the direction of the Mediterranean Sea. The auxiliary vessel makes the transition to the far sea zone to perform tasks as part of the permanent operational grouping of the Russian Navy (Navy) in the Mediterranean Sea. For the tanker crew, this is the first performance of tasks in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the group's forces," the report says.
"Vice Admiral Ferries" was built at the Nizhny Novgorod enterprise "Volga" under the project of JSC "Zelenodolsk Design Bureau". This is a multi-purpose vessel designed to transport liquid, dry and discharge cargo with the possibility of receiving Ka-27 class helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles. The tanker is able to efficiently supply surface ships and fleet vessels, transfer various cargoes to them, receive bilge water and solid waste. It is possible to use the vessel as a patrol or rescue vessel, and the hull design provides for the possibility of working in the Arctic zone.
The crew of the vessel is 24 people.
