The first Soviet submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" was delivered to Kronstadt. She arrived here accompanied by tugs. This is stated in the information message of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Recall that the first nuclear submarine was sent from the Murmansk region to Kronstadt on board the dock of the Main Directorate of Deep-sea Research of the Russian Navy "sViyaga". She was freed from the pontoons, the hydroacoustic complex and the aft vertical stabilizer were dismantled.
The submarine will be turned into an exhibit of the Museum of Naval Glory. It will be opened in Kronstadt in 2023 as part of the Island of Forts project.
Leninsky Komsomol is the first Soviet and the third nuclear submarine in the world. She was built in Severodvinsk, launched on August 9, 1957. She served in the Northern Fleet. In 1991, the Leninsky Komsomol was taken out of combat. They planned to send it for recycling. But in the end we decided to save it and open a museum in it.
