Chinese engineers have developed a drone that can stay in the sky for almost a day. This is reported by the Global Times.
The drone called CH-6 was created by the Chinese Aerospace corporation CH UAV Co. The announcement of the UAV took place during the Airshow China 2021 event. The presented drone has a long battery life. The car has economical turbofan engines, can stay in the air for about 20 hours and reach speeds of up to 700 kilometers per hour. The practical ceiling of the car is 15 kilometers.
The CH-6 is focused on use in the army. However, its creators note that the high flight range and other characteristics of the drone allow the drone to be used to solve civilian tasks. The UAV can carry out anti-submarine missions, participate in maritime patrols, early warning missions and provide close air support.
During the presentation, the creators of the combat vehicle revealed other characteristics of the drone. The CH-6 has a wingspan of 20.5 meters, the maximum take-off weight of the drone is 7.8 tons, the machine can lift air-to-ground missiles, bombs, anti-radar missiles and barrage ammunition into the sky - weighing up to 450 kilograms in total.
"One of the biggest advantages of the UAV is that it has outstanding characteristics, is easy to maintain, and is also very reliable and ready for frequent departures," said Shi Wen, chief engineer and designer of the CH—6.
At the end of September, specialists of the Smolensk Research Institute of Modern Telecommunications Technologies announced the development of a new military reconnaissance UAV "Merlin-BP". The presentation of the machine clarifies that it is designed to conduct aerial monitoring for ten hours in automatic and semi-automatic modes at altitudes up to 5000 meters.
