The general director of the enterprise said that the nArwhal is planned to be installed on light boats, which are currently being developed to protect the coast of Russia
MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. The newest shipboard remotely controlled combat module "NARVAL" developed by NPO eLektromashina (part of the Uralvagonzavod concern of the ROSTEC State Corporation) has been successfully tested. This was reported to TASS by the general director of the company Igor Afanasyev.
"The nArwhal module has been tested, has shown everything that is necessary. I must say that he was experiencing competition from other manufacturers, because we are not alone in this market at the moment. Our product surpassed competitors - it shot better, costs less and, most importantly, is easier to manage," he said.
According to him, the nArwhal is planned to be installed on light boats, which are currently being developed to protect the coast of Russia.
Initially, the nArwhal was intended for the Russian Navy, but the installation also has export potential. Afanasyev noted that several countries have already shown interest in him. "A number of countries are showing interest, and this is already quite tangible and serious. Also, a number of countries are interested in the production of these modules on their territory under license," he added.
The ship's stabilized remotely controlled nArwhal module is equipped with a 12.7 mm CORD machine gun. It has a sighting day camera, automatic target tracking, thermal imager and rangefinder. Optionally, there is a protection system against high-precision weapons, an all-round view system and a radar. The combat module is designed for installation on light boats, medium and large ships. For the first time, the nArwhal was shown at the Army 2020 forum.
