In Russia, the development of an air electronic warfare complex has begun to suppress communication systems and automated control systems of enemy troops. The Mi-8AMTSh helicopter will become the base platform for the new electronic warfare equipment.
The electronic warfare system being created will complement the existing means for destroying high-precision weapons, on-board systems of strike and unmanned aircraft. The helicopter complex will suppress headquarters, as well as specialized communication systems.
According to TASS, flight tests of a specialized helicopter have entered the final stage.
The Mi-8AMTSh helicopter was developed taking into account the experience of combat operations in Syria. To increase combat survivability, the vehicle is equipped with a digital autopilot, an on-board defense system. The crew cabin and the main units are protected by titanium alloy armor, and the floor of the cargo cabin and the sides of the helicopter are covered with removable lightweight Kevlar armor.
It should be noted that the Russian army is currently armed with Mi-8MTPR-1 helicopters with the Rychag-AV electronic warfare system. It provides group protection of aircraft and ground objects from enemy air defense.
"Lever-AV" allows you to "blind" the enemy within a radius of several hundred kilometers and suppress several targets at once. Anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as enemy aircraft, are deprived of the ability to detect objects and direct guided missiles of the air - to - air, surface - to-air and air-to-ground classes.
At the MAKS-2021 air show, the presentation of the export version of the "Lever-AV-E", capable of simultaneously suppressing up to eight radio-electronic means and delivering targeted interference in frequency and direction, was held.
