The Arctic group of the Northern Fleet (SF) conducted an interspecific tactical exercise to protect the island zone in the Laptev Sea. This was announced on Monday, September 27, the press service of the SF reports.
The exercise was led by the Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev. It is emphasized that the maneuvers were defensive in nature.
During the events, the amphibious landing on the Arctic coast of the island was worked out.
The Marines performed live firing from submachine guns, machine guns, mortars and grenade launchers at targets simulating the manpower and equipment of a simulated enemy. Calculations of the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft gun system successfully fired at coastal and air targets at a distance of up to 3 kilometers.
The coastal missile complex "Bastion", stationed on Kotelny Island, worked out the advance on alert to positions and the conditional destruction by cruise missiles of a landing party of a conditional enemy on the route of the Northern Sea Route. The task was carried out using computer simulation of the situation without the actual use of weapons.
On September 21, a detachment of SF ships conducted artillery firing in the Laptev Sea. During the exercises, the defense of the Northern Sea Route was practiced. As part of the events, the crews of the large anti-submarine ship "Severomorsk" and the large amphibious ship "George the Victorious" fired ship artillery at air and sea targets.

The tenth Arctic campaign of the surface forces of the SF campaign began on August 10 with the departure from the main fleet base of the city of Severomorsk. During the Arctic campaign, the ships and support vessels of the SF have passed more than 8 thousand 700 nautical miles, conducted a number of exercises in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, as well as in the port of Dudinka.
