The BMP-3 was able to extinguish the candles with shots from a 30-mm gun.
In the program" Acceptance "on the TV channel" Zvezda", the capabilities of the BMP-3 were demonstrated. In particular, they tested the accuracy of the combat vehicle's fire control system. However, instead of the usual shooting at targets, the shooter was given a non-trivial task - to extinguish five candles with shots at a hundred-meter distance.
To complicate the experiment, candles were placed in three-liter jars. It was necessary to extinguish their flame with a stream of air from a passing projectile, of course, without breaking the container.
It took five shots to do this. Moreover, as Nikolai Grekhov, the deputy chief designer of Kurganmashzavod, explained, the first two were warm-up-targeting ones. The target installed behind the banks made it possible to assess the accuracy of shooting. The indicator is excellent-comparable to a sniper rifle. All the shots were aimed.
In the second part of the experiment, we decided to use a 100-mm cannon. But the task has changed somewhat - it was possible to beat the cans, but only with the flow of air from the projectile. A single shot neatly destroyed all the targets.
