The operational-strategic command and staff exercises "Otpantau-2021" held in Kazakhstan involved the existing modern types of weapons and military equipment.
According to the press center of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the troops have applied the experience of recent armed conflicts in practice, worked out new forms and methods of conducting combat operations.
For example, air and ground reconnaissance was constantly carried out. The results obtained were transmitted through the control center to aviation and unmanned aerial vehicles that struck with onboard high-precision weapons.
Tank and motorized rifle units operated on the ground. They were supported by the Terminator BMPT.
It was Kazakhstan that became the first foreign state to adopt such combat vehicles, made on the chassis of Russian T-90A main battle tanks.
The military of this country highly assess their potential: during the tests, it was found that one "Terminator", armed with two 30-mm 2A42 cannons, a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun, two AG-17 automatic grenade launchers and Ataka-T anti-tank missiles, can successfully replace two infantry fighting vehicles, three or four armored personnel carriers or an infantry platoon.
Interestingly, the joint actions of the BMPT were supposed not only with the T-72 and BMP-2 tanks, but also with the heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek", also in the army, which was demonstrated during the training actions.
According to the website of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who personally observed the progress of "Otpantau-2021", the exercises completed a sudden inspection of the troops, which covered about 9 thousand servicemen and more than 3 thousand pieces of equipment, including 66 aircraft and eight ships.
