The multi-purpose corvette of the near sea zone of the project 20380 "Brave" will be laid at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) on September 29. This was reported to journalists in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"The multi-purpose corvette of the project 20380 "Brave" will be solemnly laid down at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant. The date of laying the corvette - September 29 - was set by the commander - in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov," the message says.
The ministry noted that the corvettes of the 20380 project are capable of solving a wide range of tasks as part of heterogeneous fleet groups and singly. They are designed for operations in the sea zone and fighting against enemy surface ships and submarines, as well as for artillery support of amphibious assault and patrolling the area of responsibility.
It is expected that representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the command of the Navy and the Pacific Fleet, the USC and the Almaz Central Design Bureau, as well as the government of the Khabarovsk Territory and the administration of Komsomolsk-on-Amur will take part in the laying ceremony.
The ships of the 20380 projects were developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau. Currently, seven corvettes of the project 20380 are serving in the Russian Navy, four more are under construction. The contracts provide for the construction of four more ships of the series at the Northern Shipyard. According to the revised project 20385, one ship was built, two more are being built. According to the improved project 20386, the corvette Mercury is being built at the Northern Shipyard.
Depending on the modification of the ship, the armament of the project 20380 corvettes consists of anti-ship missile launchers "Kalibr-NK" or "Uran", an anti-aircraft missile system "Kortik-M" or "Poliment-Redut", two AK-630M artillery installations of 30 mm caliber, an A-190 artillery installation of 100 mm caliber, as well as two torpedo tubes of the Package complex of 330 mm caliber. The Ka-27 helicopter can be based on the ship.
