TSAMTO, September 23. In the Crimea, the pilots of the Northern Fleet's ship-based fighter aviation regiment on the Su-33 have started the final stage of the flight training program at the ground-based engineering and technical aviation complex (NITKA), which simulates the flight deck of a heavy aircraft carrier
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, Colonel Pavel Podguzov (one of the students of the legendary pilot of the Hero of Russia Timur Apakidze), several young pilots were trained who managed to independently land on a ground simulator with an air finisher cable hook.
Training of deck fighter pilots of the Northern Fleet in the Crimea continues for several weeks. In the first half of October, they will return to the home airfield in the Kola Arctic.
During the training on the ground simulator, young and experienced pilots practice and restore the skills of landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. They undergo a full training cycle from taking off from the ship's air ramp to landing on a limited section of the runway with a hook for a cable.
After the completion of the training process in the Crimea with carrier-based fighter pilots on the Su-33 on a ground simulator, they will be replaced by colleagues from a separate ship-based fighter aviation regiment on the MiG-29K, the press service of the Northern Fleet reports.
