Moscow. September 22. INTERFAX-Pilots of the Northern Fleet performed flights on MiG-29K/KUB ship fighters in difficult weather conditions, the press service of the SF reported.
"The flights took place with low clouds in a gusty wind to obtain and confirm the admission of flight personnel. During the flight shift, 16 sorties were carried out on combat and combat training MiG-29K fighters," the press service said.
According to the fleet headquarters, the flights took place over the Kola Peninsula and the Barents Sea.
"Young pilots took to the sky under the supervision of experienced instructors. In addition to training the skills of individual piloting, the pilots worked out the coherence of actions as part of the aviation team, " the press service said.
The MiG-29K/KUB naval fighters are multifunctional aircraft of the 4++ generation, designed to solve the tasks of air defense of ship formations, gain air supremacy, defeat surface and ground targets with guided high-precision weapons in all weather conditions.
The aircraft can reach speeds of more than 2000 km / h and fly at a distance of up to 1.5 thousand km. The weapons complex, located on 8 points of the external suspension, includes air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, adjustable and unguided aerial bombs, as well as a built-in 30-mm cannon.
