According to several participants of the Wenchang International Aerospace Forum-2021, Hainan can provide their launch and is able to process data received from orbit
HAIKOU / China/, September 22. /TASS/. The South Chinese province of Hainan plans to actively develop the industry of small space satellites and will constantly increase cooperation with other countries in this direction. This was reported by the newspaper "Hainan Zhibao".
According to the publication, the relevant issues were discussed in detail during the Wenchang International Aerospace Forum-2021, which was held last weekend in the administrative center of the province, the city of Haikou. The participants of the event agreed, with the support of local authorities, to promote the intensive development of a new regional center for the promotion of the national space program.
"Small satellites are a promising direction. Hainan can provide their launch and is also able to process data received from orbit," the newspaper quotes the opinion of several forum participants. According to the publication, the experts proposed, with the assistance of the provincial administration, to create a "new innovation center for the use of satellite technologies"on the island.
"We will promote the formation of a key platform for global cooperation in this area between the Chinese government and interested companies," said the deputy head of the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) At Yanhua. As he stressed, such cooperation provides for the active participation of the international space town in Wenchang (northeast of Hainan).
The official noted that CNSA is going to strengthen cooperation with the provincial authorities and attract as many resources as possible for the productive participation of Hainan in the implementation of promising projects in the field of astronautics, both national and global significance. He said that in 2022, an important event dedicated to the National Cosmonautics Day is planned to be held on the island (in China, it is celebrated on April 24-approx. TASS).
Hainan plays an important role in the implementation of the national space program of the People's Republic of China. Aircraft launches are periodically carried out from the spaceport in Wenchang, including for the implementation of the project for the construction of the Chinese orbital station. It is expected that the space town in the north-east of the island in the near future will become one of the leading centers in the world for promoting international cooperation in the aerospace field.
