The first Soviet nuclear submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol" has arrived in St. Petersburg. After the restoration, it will be placed in the Museum of Naval Glory of Kronstadt.
In St. Petersburg, specialists will conduct an operation to remove the boat from the floating dock "Sviyaga". Then restoration work will be carried out on it and the submarine will be turned into a museum. "Leninsky Komsomol" will become the central exhibit of the tourist and recreational cluster "Island of Forts". It will be opened after 2023.
According to RIA Novosti, they are already working on a project for the museum of the submarine. In addition, it is necessary to prepare a concrete support base for the K-3 in the Museum of Naval Glory, to organize the tightening of the submarine into the building. After that, restoration work will be carried out on the light body and the interior.
RG has already written that the Leninsky Komsomol submarine was freed from the SPP-200 pontoons, the hydroacoustic complex and the aft vertical stabilizer were dismantled. It was delivered to the Northern capital on board the dock of the Main Directorate of Deep-sea Research of the Russian Navy "Sviyaga".
The Leninsky Komsomol is the first Soviet and the third nuclear submarine in the world.She was laid down on September 24, 1955 in Severodvinsk, launched on August 9, 1957. She served in the Northern Fleet. In 1991, it was withdrawn from its composition.
