The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, called on the authorities of all countries of the world to tighten control over artificial intelligence. She believes that some developments in the field of AI may violate human rights.
She noted that the regulatory requirements for the use of artificial intelligence technology should be stricter, the higher the risk of violating people's rights from their use. In particular, Bachelet proposed to temporarily abandon surveillance technologies in public places and programs that analyze people's behavior.
She also drew attention to the fact that states and private companies sometimes decided to use artificial intelligence without studying the possible consequences of this, which is why many could not receive the social assistance they were supposed to receive or were mistakenly detained due to failures in facial recognition devices.
