In China, the AK-12 Kalashnikov assault rifle, which entered service with the Russian military, was evaluated. The Sohu publication stressed the importance of such a step.
"Everyone is talking about hypersonic missiles, but few people remember that Russian infantrymen have an AK-12 assault rifle. And this is a significant update, " the author of the material writes.
In August, RIA Novosti, citing the press service of the Central Military District, reported on the strengthening of the Russian military base in Tajikistan with new weapons. Russian servicemen received AK-12 submachine guns, new ASVK-M sniper rifles, flamethrowers and portable Verba anti-aircraft missile systems.
Initially, the AK-12 submachine gun was introduced in 2012. The development of Izhmash was based on the solutions of previous versions of the AK, but it was a fundamentally new model. The machine failed during tests under the "Warrior" program. In 2016, a redesigned model with the index 6P70 was introduced, which was upgraded in 2020. The modified machine gun was adopted.
The main difference between the AK-12 and the previous automata of the series was the well-developed ergonomics. So, the machine gun received a telescopic butt and a pistol grip, and standard magazines gave way to models with an indicator of the amount of ammunition. The engineers also upgraded the sighting devices.
Earlier it became known about the features of the upgraded version of the AK-12, designed for special forces. AK-12SP received a new two-way fuse-translator of fire modes and a receiver plate that increases the rigidity of the sights.
