TSAMTO, September 21. The lead non-nuclear submarine "Saint Petersburg" of project 677 "Lada" has completed pilot operation and has become a full-fledged combat unit in the Russian Navy.
This was reported to RIA Novosti by Andrey Baranov, Deputy General Director of the Central Design Bureau of MT Rubin.
As the agency reminds, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy (2007-2012), Vladimir Vysotsky, stopped the production of submarines of this project due to problems with the power unit and the acoustic complex. The lead DPL "Saint Petersburg" was accepted into the Russian Navy, but since 2010 it has been in trial operation in the Northern Fleet.

Earlier, the general director of the Admiralty Shipyards shipbuilding enterprise, Alexander Buzakov, told RIA Novosti that the first two serial diesel-electric submarines of the fourth generation of the Lada project 677 – Kronstadt and Velikiye Luki-will be transferred to the Russian Navy in 2022.
The head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, Alexey Rakhmanov, told RIA Novosti that the serial construction of two fourth-generation diesel-electric submarines of the Lada project 677 is lagging behind due to problems with one of the equipment suppliers.
