The Boeing Corporation presented the appearance of the LRAAM air — to-air missile. It has a two-stage design and can hit air targets at a very long range.
Boeing demonstrated the concept at the opening of the annual Air, Space & Cyber Conference. The weapon has the symbol LRAAM (Long-Range Air-to-Air Missile). The rocket will receive two stages.
Now the project is at an early stage, so it's premature to talk about the characteristics. It is assumed that the LRAAM will give superiority over the enemy, since in comparison with" conventional "air — to-air missiles, it will have greater speed, range and maneuverability in the final section.

Today, the main armament of American fighters (at least if we talk about destroying air targets) is the AIM — 120 AMRAAM medium — range air-to-air missile. It was adopted in 1991. Since then, AMRAAM has been repeatedly upgraded: this included increasing the firing range.
As it became known this year, the F-15C Eagle fighter of the US Air Force destroyed the target with the AIM-120 at a record range.
