Moscow. September 20. INTERFAX-The Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun systems located on the Kerch Peninsula (eastern part of Crimea) have worked out the destruction of cruise missiles, the official representative of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation Alexey Rulev said.
"During the exercise, the calculations of the Pantsir-S missile defense system performed the tasks of detecting, tracking and destroying cruise missiles of a simulated enemy," Rulev said.
"The simulated cruise missiles were simulated electronically, and the flight speed and altitude parameters were different, which complicated the calculations of hitting air targets," the representative of the Black Sea Fleet said.
According to him, the exercise was held with the Pantsir-S complexes, which are on combat duty for air defense on the Kerch Peninsula, during planned combat training sessions.
All the tasks set within the framework of the exercise were successfully completed, Rulev stressed.
The Russian military has significantly strengthened the grouping in the Crimea for several years, including at the expense of S-400 long-range air defense systems (Almaz-Antey concern of East Kazakhstan Region).
The Russian Defense Ministry said that a group has been created in Crimea that is able to provide protection from all threats.
The defense of the Crimea is provided by the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, naval aviation and air defense aircraft. An army corps has been created in the Crimea, including coastal defense, reconnaissance, artillery units, air defense units, engineering and logistics support, RCB protection, communications and others. The Russian military in Crimea has advanced anti-ship coastal missile systems " Bal " and "Bastion".
