The crews of Ka-52 Alligators of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Southern Military District (SE) performed their first flight in the mountains of South Ossetia as part of a helicopter flight.
Reconnaissance and attack helicopters provided fire support to the helicopter squadron of transport and combat Mi-8AMTSh, the crews of which carried out the delivery of motorized infantry to the rear of a conditional enemy within the framework of a bilateral battalion tactical exercise with units of the military base of the Southern Military District in South Ossetia.
At the Dzartsem mountain range, the commanders of the battalion tactical groups master new elements of the combat order and methods of tactical actions.
According to the plan of the exercise, the motorized skirmishes went on the offensive from a position of direct contact with the enemy.
For the first time, battalion commanders engaged tactical breakthrough groups and counter-sniper groups in combat formations, and also used a dispersed combat order of artillery firing positions.
In the Southern Military District, four bilateral battalion tactical exercises are held at combined-arms training grounds located in the Volgograd Region, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Chechen Republic and at a military base in the Republic of South Ossetia. About 6 thousand military personnel take part in them, about 300 units of weapons and equipment are involved, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery guns and multiple rocket launchers.
For the purpose of interspecific interaction, more than 40 aircraft and helicopters of army and tactical aviation were attracted from the association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District.
